A week might not be long enough to complete this food tour of Orvieto. There are spots I always include in the week with Adventures in Italy, and places I always make sure I go to one way or another. If you are joining us on a tour, keep this information handy for those meals on your own.
Opening night we always visit Trattoria del Moro Aronne. Like many restaurants in Orvieto, this is a family run establishment. My favorite here is the nidi, a lasagna noodle filled with pecorino cheese and honey. Almost like dessert, sweet and delicious!

Usually on the final night we visit my friend Giovanni, and his Ristorante Il Giardino da Giovanni. He used to be located right next to our accommodation, but during Covid he expanded and moved to a beautiful location close to where the local market is held. My pick here is Giovanni’s tagliatelle, cacao paste with mascarpone cheese and prosciutto. Lately this one has become too much for an entree for me with all of the other yummy things to eat, so I will often order as a first course to share 😉

Giovanni has the most delicious steak with pistachios, which you must have with the baked potatoes seasoned with rosemary and sage.

The final touch is dessert, and Giovanni doesn’t disappoint. Lava cake, either chocolate or pistachio; chantilly creme, panna cotta with various kinds of fruit…nearly impossible to choose!

Aside from the delightful offerings at our olive oil and wine pairing dinner at Bartolomei, and our cooking class with Chef Lorenzo at his farm, no food tour of Orveito would be complete without mentioning these other not-to-be-missed meals:

No photo evidence but also worth a mention, the most delicious gnocchi and tiramisu at Antico Bucchero!
