Meet Claudia
Claudia Lee is a two-time recipient of a Master’s Grant from The Tennessee Arts Commission. She was chosen to design and create the 2011 Governor’s Arts Awards. Her work has been published in more than 30 books and journals and she is the author of Papermaking from Lark Books.
Her work can be found in many private and public collections including: The Collection of The Tennessee Arts Commission, The Arrowmont School of Craft, The Southern Highland Guild, The Wilson Collection at the Nashville Public Library and the James Walker Library Special Collections at Middle Tennessee State University.
Liberty Paper is located in middle Tennessee on the site of an old farm surrounded by woods and mountains. The studio is a working and teaching facility where individuals and groups can come to work and study independently or in organized classes.
Your time with Claudia includes:
Make a folding, triangular bag as well as a single-sheet artist book and stitch sampler. The surface of each of these projects will be your blank canvas to embellish with collage, and color washes in the warm, earthy shades of Orvieto. Add stitching for texture and more color.
Claudia will share some of her favorite techniques for adding patterns to paper, and she’ll bring some of her own handmade papers as well as decorative papers for all to use.
If you have never stitched on paper, it can be surprisingly satisfying and a great way to add color, texture and pattern to your work.
No previous experience or skills are needed to enjoy this class.
Tour Details
Mornings will be spent in creative exploration, either in the studio or out around Orvieto. In the afternoon you will experience the culture of Italy. It might be a tour into the Etruscan caves, a cooking class, or a vineyard visit. There will also be plenty of free time to explore Orvieto on your own. You will receive a more detailed itinerary for the week in your final information packet sent before you travel.
A traditional continental breakfast is served each morning in the B&B. Because Italian cuisine is such fun, some meals are not prearranged allowing you the freedom to choose where and what to eat. Recommendations are offered and no one eats alone!

The balance including single room supplement of $150 USD and optional activities, if any, is due as indicated on the registration form, which is approximately 90 days prior to trip commencement.
