Join Karen John to create ‘Incanto’, a piece of wall art filled with textural embroidered designs drawn from the Umbrian countryside and enriched by small added embellishments of fabrics, ribbons and perhaps the odd tiny button!

Your time with KAREN includes:

Karen will take you on a guided journey of textural embroidery stitches and techniques together with simple applique and fabric applications to create embellished ‘tiles’ of fabric. Learn both fundamental stitches in addition to some less common embroidery and fabric techniques. Your ‘tiles’ can later be stitched to a linen background to create a beautiful wall piece.

Karen will provide you with:
 Full Incanto pattern (especially created for this class) including design templates and finishing notes
 Embroidery and fabric worksheets including step by step notes and photos
 Stitch instruction
 Small specially sourced embellishments and notions
 Closer to the date Karen will send further specific project pictures. While the tile and embellishing fabrics are small, she will also offer a full or part fabric kit option (should you wish to use the same fabrics)
 The odd Aussie Tim Tam!

This is a chance to immerse yourself and be inspired by the beauty of Orvieto in a nurturing and learning environment.

Tour Details

Mornings will be spent in creative exploration, either in the studio or out around Orvieto. In the afternoon you will experience the culture of Italy. It might be a tour into the Etruscan caves, a cooking class, or a vineyard visit. There will also be plenty of free time to explore Orvieto on your own. You will receive a more detailed itinerary for the week in your final information packet sent before you travel.

A traditional continental breakfast is served each morning in the B&B. Because Italian cuisine is such fun, some meals are not prearranged allowing you the freedom to choose where and what to eat. Recommendations are offered and no one eats alone!
