In this class explore and capture the beauty and history of Orvieto through it’s many landmark buildings.  The leporello is constructed from layers of ephemera, rubbings, and your own words and thoughts from this town that has seen it’s own share of transformations from it’s history of Etruscan, Roman, and Napoleon influences.

Leslie Wood is a mixed media artist from Lacey’s Spring, Alabama. She has a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, but after working for a few years, decided to go back to college and take art classes. She enrolled with the University of Alabama in Huntsville and studied photography, sculpture and painting. She dabbles between the real and fantasy worlds in her art often beginning in art journals before moving to canvas. Her art journaling is a regular featured artist for Stampington’s ART Journaling magazine. The term “leporello” refers to a printed material folded into an accordion pleat style.  Leslie shows how to execute this parallel folding technique with the folds alternating between front and back.  Many leporellos are used as a way of telling a story, while others are purely visual.  Yours may depict a scenic panorama of the sights, infused with the customs, culture, food and wine of Orvieto.

Tour Details

Mornings will be spent in creative exploration, either in the studio or out around Orvieto. In the afternoon you will experience the culture of Italy. It might be a tour into the Etruscan caves, a cooking class, or a vineyard visit. There will also be plenty of free time to explore Orvieto on your own. You will receive a more detailed itinerary for the week in your final information packet sent before you travel.

A traditional continental breakfast is served each morning in the B&B. Because Italian cuisine is such fun, some meals are not prearranged allowing you the freedom to choose where and what to eat. Recommendations are offered and no one eats alone!
