– This is a workshop of creative discovery filled with exploration, conversation and shared ideas.  Hand stitch on paper to craft a journal reflecting the colors and textures of Orvieto.

– Create a handstitched scroll filled with memories of your time in Orvieto. Join Susan Edmonson in creating your very own fabric scroll of views from the Italian countryside.  Adorn your scroll with hills of green, vineyards, fields pf poppies and sunflowers.  Cathedrals and cobblestone streets with so much detail, all stitched by hand.  Susan guides you through this magical journey!

– Transform treasured papers into meaningful journal pages while preserving the beauty and history they hold. Create a journal infused with the beauty, history, and romance of Italy. Construct a handmade journal complete with pockets and tuck spots for storing postcards, tickets, notes, pressed botanicals, and other collected treasures. Finish with a hand-stitched belly band to wrap around your journal and stitch a small canvas bag to hold your finished book and future finds.

– Create a personalized tote with your own appliqué pieces inspired by Orvieto, and leather base from Orvieto’s own leather craftsman, Federico Badia. Sue will guide and encourage you in creating the front appliqué of your bag. You can choose instead to design a small pictorial appliqué piece inspired by your visit.

– Get ready to fill your travel sketchbook as Koosje Koene teaches you how to capture the moment with pen on paper. Koosje believes life is better when you draw it, and her approach is fun-filled. She will hand you attainable drawing techniques and tips for your sketchbook practice. Together, practice during the art retreat, but take it all with you to apply in your sketchbook long after. This will be a week full of creativity and exploration.

– Using applique, hand piecing, and embroidery, create a piecce inspired by your surroundings. Let Jen help you design a piece inspired by Orvieto.  Turn anything you see into hand-stitched art. Let your tapestry be rich with Umbrian color and texture and walk away with a one of kind keepsake.
